The CSL team is small, but passionate, and relies a great deal on the support of volunteers and interns.

Finance Committee member

Reporting to: Finance Committee Chairperson
Salary: Unpaid – volunteer
Hours: 5 hours a month
Duration: Minimum 2 years
Location: Melbourne, Sydney or remote

The Centre for Sustainability Leadership (CSL) is a not-for-profit organisation which runs a range of learning programs that help people realise their potential to create a more sustainable future for themselves, their organisations and the world. Now in our 12th year, the CSL Board of Directors are looking to appoint a finance committee member to aid CSL to grow and increase its ability to foster and drive positive change. If you have the drive, passion, experience and time, we’d like to hear from you.

We are looking to appoint a member with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Accounting and finance.
  • Business development
  • Risk

 

To be successful you must possess:

  • CPA or CA certified accountant
  • The ability to analyse and discuss issues of strategy, policy and organisational process
  • Strong budgeting and planning skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Previous board experience and/or governance training (well regarded)
  • An approximate time commitment of around 5 hours a month
  • A commitment to act as a Finance Committee member for at least 2 years
  • The ability to attend monthly Committee meetings (either in person in Melbourne or by phone / internet if located elsewhere), the AGM, and a yearly strategic planning session each May
  • The ability to prepare for, and actively participate in, the discussions and deliberations of the Committee

Volunteer programs assistant

Reporting to: Program Managers
Salary: Unpaid – volunteer
Hours: 2 days a week, plus Tuesday evenings 6 pm – 9 pm for weekly workshops, and attendance at retreats in regional areas
Duration: 6 months with a probation period of 3 months.
Location: Centre for Sustainability Leadership, Melbourne

The role

To assist the facilitators and managers of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership Melbourne, support delivery and communications about the award winning Fellowship programs. This also includes contributions to the successful running of programs Australia wide.

Responsibilities include:

  • Office based tasks to support the Fellowship Program team in the Melbourne office
  • Assist in planning, delivery and communications of CSL programs
  • Support to Fellowship participants as required
  • Support ongoing management, operations and marketing of Programs

Key Requirements – Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a passion for leadership and sustainability
  • Have event or project support/management OR communications/marketing/graphic design experience
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work in a team environment
  • Have good computer skills using Microsoft office software
  • Show strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Demonstrate attention to detail

Volunteer business administration assistant

Reporting to: Program Managers
Salary: Unpaid – volunteer
Hours: 2 days a week
Duration: 6 months with a probation period of 3 months.
Location: Centre for Sustainability Leadership, Melbourne

The Role

The ideal candidate will:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Docs, with accurate word processing and data entry skills.
  • Sound knowledge of administrative systems and procedures, and proficiency with office technology.
  • Highly developed written communications skills with the ability to maintain strong attention to detail and take pride in the quality of work produced.
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with people at all levels in an informative, accurate and positive manner.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and complete work within established deadlines, and to maintain a consistent level of professionalism.
  • An ability to work effectively within a busy team environment, and also to work unsupervised.
  • Strong client focus and genuine desire to assist team members.
  • A proactive approach to resolving queries and problems.
  • A can-do attitude, flexible and mature approach to work tasks, and a willingness to learn.

Volunteer copywriting assistant

Reporting to: Program Managers
Salary: Unpaid – volunteer
Hours: 2 days a week
Duration: 6 months with a probation period of 3 months.
Location: Centre for Sustainability Leadership, Melbourne

The role

To assist the CEO and managers of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership Melbourne and support marketing and communications of the award winning Fellowship programs. This also includes contributions to the successful communications of new programs.

Duties of a Copywriter include:

  • Writing different types of copy depending on its purpose.
  • Working closely with marketing to establish tone of voice and appropriate writing styles.
  • Collaborating with creatives to produce relevant copy for brochures, sales materials and products.
  • Working on online copy alongside the Marketing Manager ensuring copy works effectively for search engine optimization purposes.
  • Working alongside marketing to write entertaining and effective email marketing materials.
  • Researching your subject matter to ensure the quality and accuracy of your copy.
  • Editing and rewriting company copy written by other members of the marketing team.

Key Requirements – Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will:

  • A passionate and committed writer with a love of writing exciting copy.
  • Excellent written and spoken presentation skills.
  • Degree educated ideally with an English or related degree.
  • Solid understanding of online copywriting and how it impacts on search engine optimization.
  • You will be hard working and committed and be able to produce good quality content often to short deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential for this position.
