We recently launched a junior version in Brisbane of our award-winning leadership program.
For the first time the Future Environmental Leaders Program (FELP) is bringing together 23 young and bright Year 9 and 10 students from three Brisbane Public State High Schools.
The idea for FELP sparked in the 2012 Melbourne Fellowship program with "The Junior CSL" project. Made possible by the vision and generosity of the Boeing Foundation, FELP is based on a cutting edge curriculum that focuses on inspiring students from the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics streams.
“We are thrilled to be offering the first Future Environmental Leaders Program in Brisbane and to be giving Year 9 and 10 students the opportunity to be a part of this new leadership program,” said Alesha Younghusband, General Manager of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership (CSL).
“It’s an opportunity to build the capacity and networks at a crucial time in young peoples development so that they feel more empowered and inspired to become our future leaders.”
23 participants from Brisbane’s outer suburbs gathered in Numinbah in May for the first intensive workshop as part of the 20-week course.
It has been a great start to a unique program which draws together a very diverse and passionate group of young people.
The first weekend retreat included a packed schedule of learning around sustainability and leadership, and opportunities for collaborating. The FELP will run until September 2016.
