We are thrilled to announce that CSL alumni project Make Change Happen is the recipient of the 2014 Qantas Foundation Sustainability Entrepreneurship Award.
Make Change Happen is a free community program which provides participants with the tools and support they need to make a positive impact on the issues they care about. Founded by Jen Halldorsson, Emma Wasson and JP Williamson during the 2011 CSL Sydney Fellowship Program, along with former team members Andrea Pape and Frances Myles, Make Change Happen is designed to help people get better at putting their ideas for a sustainable + socially just world into action while gaining support and inspiration from a network of like-minded people in their community.
Make Change Happen groups are currently running in the Illawarra and Northern Rivers regions, made possible by partnerships with CSL, the NSW Environment Trust and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage. The project was piloted in Green Square thanks to a City of Sydney Matching Grant and an adapted version of the program was delivered as Wild Change Makers internally at The Wilderness Society.
Jen, JP and Emma are humbled, honoured and excited about using the award to grow the impact of Make Change Happen, for individuals and their communities alike. The team are planning to use the award to develop a website and provide a resource for growing existing groups and establishing new groups, opportunities and partnerships. They are indebted to the many tool owners, contributors and mentors who have made this program possible, and would like in particular to acknowledge CSL for their ongoing support, guidance and mentorship.
