Sustainability Manager, Koala2016 Sydney Fellowship
'People Everywhere Need To Be Leaders To Create The World We Want'
What was the most valuable thing you got out of the Future Makers Fellowship?
I was inspired and given the confidence to help create a better world.
Why are you passionate about sustainability? What was the moment or event that made you decide to become a ‘change maker’ in your field?
I traveled for a year through developing countries and kept seeing examples where Brands I would buy from at home were acting in ways that were quite shocking. I remember thinking that 'corporates need to be held responsible'. Then a little later I discovered Corporate Responsibility and knew that this is what I wanted to dedicate myself to.
How did Future Makers play a role in directing your current path or project?
Future Makers gave me a great toolkit to use, the confidence to give it a go and a network to fall back on - just in case.
Why leadership for sustainability is important?
The need for change is becoming more evident and urgent and traditional leaders are not leading. People; everywhere need to be leaders in order to create a world we want.
What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?
I'm taking some time to travel, reflect on all I learnt and hopefully build a school! Then I'll be back in the sustainability game here in Sydney... and always learning.
What are three words you would use to describe the Fellowship Program?
Love of learning
