Leadership gives us a purpose to alchemise with our chosen passion and create the change we want to see

What was the most valuable thing you got out of CSL?

Friendships, networks, support, encouragement, a safe-space

Why are you passionate about sustainability? What was the moment or event that made you decide to become a 'change maker' in your field?

I know my passion for sustainability became crystal clear to me when I was an architecture student. One day our lecturer took the whole class outside, while we were all blinded by the bright sunny day he said “look… look up at the sky – this... (pointing to the sky) we cannot take for granted anymore”. By “this” he meant the ozone layer, the climate as we knew it. Mother earth was set to change it was just a question of when. After years practicing as an architect and working in sustainability, I have come to a deeper realisation. We don’t need to be so concerned with Mother Nature anymore, she is quite capable of looking after herself. What I am interested in helping is YOU, me and everyone we know. We are living in a changing world, and we have to change with it to keep up. To continue to thrive in this ever-changing world we need to move towards more efficient, less harmful ways of being which will lead to a happier, more productive society. This is the change I want to see in the world, and the journey I wish to share.

Why is leadership for sustainability important?

Passion combined with purpose is unstoppable. Leadership gives us a purpose to alchemise with our chosen passion and create the change we want to see.

What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?

Continue to follow my heart and soul to see where it leads me...
