What was the most valuable thing you got out of CSL?
Why are you passionate about sustainability? What was the moment or event that made you decide to become a 'change maker' in your field?
As a Communications Strategist, I am passionate about exploring the way in which our social interactions impact our connection to to the natural world. I strongly believe that by increasing the true connection between individuals, be it through mobile technology, intimate face-to-face discussions, or open forums, we will develop a greater sense of collective fate and in turn will allow us to mobilise to action. Throughout my time in mainstream advertising I discovered that the majority of existing messages we see in the media and on our devices, be it from corporations or political parties, are developed to isolate, manipulate and extricate. My moment of awakening came when I decided that the power of communication should be used increase transparency, democracy and connectivity.
Why is leadership for sustainability important?
Disruption is required for change to occur
What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?
I believe that the key to unlocking the human's capacity to overcome the challenges ahead lies in leveraging the positive technologies that exist under our nose. I am looking to explore the way in which our societal obsession with digital technology and our associated 'connectivity' can be leveraged to increase our understanding of the way we impact the environment around us. In particular, through my current role, I look forward to working with councils and corporates to explore the ways we can leverage big data and mobile technology to mobilise their residents and customers into action.
