What was the most valuable thing you got out of CSL?
I learned the power of safe spaces as an enabler for creating change.
Why are you passionate about sustainability?
The moment would be when I stopped to see what each of my actions and its full impact on the planet might be. While being surprised at that; I was shocked at how these actions and practices causing so much long-term harm is completely normalized here in a developed nation, Australia and my home country, India.
The true scale of the problem hit me and the many ways to approach it put it in my grasp, wanting to be a 'change maker' and help drive the future in the right direction.
How did CSL play a role in directing your current path or project?
The program gave me space, inspiration, and support to approach things in new genuine ways, be completely honest with myself and my peers in terms of my true intent, interests, and capabilities. By being part of this program and group, it became really clear to me what are some of the key ingredients for and the power of inspiring, encouraging and allowing people to be their true, honest selves to whatever they are doing and how this can lead to real change.
The support the program provided in going to places within myself has enabled me to be completely conscious of myself, my needs and my own sustainability to bring my best self to the path or project I commit myself to.
Finally, the peer group I formed through this program is for me to keep and I am confident that it will play a significant role in my path forward.
Why is leadership for sustainability so important?
It is the most important issue of our time and only with good leadership can we get on a path to potentially solving the many interconnected attributes of it.
What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?
Next year I plan to go to my home country India, move to a rural area very close to my heart and start a movement of small communities living sustainably, going forward to old practices with a focus on building
human
connection. I want to test this, learn and then create a model for more communities to follow.
What are three words you would use to describe the Fellowship Program?
Inspiring, Refreshing & Fulfilling.
