People with a vision for sustainability need to become leaders for sustainability to turn world-changing ideas into reality.

What was the most valuable thing you got out of CSL?

Aligning my intrinsic values and professional goals, practical clarity moving forward, confidence to set my own agenda and networks of support

Why are you passionate about sustainability? What was the moment or event that made you decide to become a 'change maker' in your field?

I am not particularly more passionate about sustainability than about social justice, enlightened I am passionate about sustainability because I value enlightened thinking for practical purposes that reduce harm and promote values of justice, ecological integrity and happiness; it just happens that sustainability is the dominant frame of ideas that encapsulate much that I care about. I also see that in the long list of issues I consider important, planetary destruction is the issue that I believe most needs my attention. Not enough people are acting on this issue and so it needs all the people and attention we can muster. And all the while, I am having fun working with passionate people on issues that are beyond anyone person and the solutions to which are part of a multi-life long project.

Why is leadership for sustainability important?

Sustainability solutions are founded in a vision for an alternative, just world. People with a vision for sustainability need to become leaders for sustainability to turn world-changing ideas into reality.

What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?

I will train future young leaders of Australia in international sustainability and climate policy through my work at Global Voices. At the same time, I will develop a legal practice as a B-Corp lawyer at Clearpoint Counsel, enabling other B-Corps whose mission it is to help solve sustainability and climate issues.
