Kim Shore
Lawyer & Law Lab Designer, Law Lab (Environmental Justice Australia)2014 May Intensive Fellowship
"CSL was wise in asking me to ask the hard questions of myself about what I wanted, where I wanted to go, and how I would get there."
What was the most valuable thing you got out of CSL?
I learned the power of having a network of collaborators and supporters who will say "yes you can," making anything possible.
Why are you passionate about sustainability? What was the moment or event that made you decide to become a ‘change maker’ in your field?
When I realized I had the knowledge and skills needed, or at least could learn the skills required, and it was time to more holistically integrate my work, life and convictions.
How did CSL play a role in directing your current path or project?
CSL was wise in asking me to ask the hard questions of myself about what I wanted, where I wanted to go, and how I would get there. In answering those questions, CSL gave me the support and environment that would make my vision a reality.
In 25 words or less, tell us why leadership for sustainability is important.
We need leaders to solve the big problems, to have visions, to act on what is important in creating a more sustainable world. By learning about leadership, one is equipped to create initiatives, work in teams and change systems.
What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?
Build the Sustainability Law Lab to a place where it is making a tangible difference and is a proven new, innovative and collaborative law center for sustainability outcomes and a low carbon economy. And write more, begin sharing stories, insights, and ideas, to start a wider conversation and discover emergent possibilities. Publish a book with my Dad on Classical Mindfulness. Surf, climb and run.
What are three words you would use to describe the Fellowship Program?
Enabling, connecting and inspiring.
