Today's children will need the combination of social, emotional and environmental intelligence in order to address some of the most complex challenges before them.

The InsideOut Lab plan to build modular school-age children programs to uplift their social, emotional and ecological intelligences, aligned to Daniel Goleman's Ecoliteracy model. Each program will contain a series of fun workshops to create experiences where children can develop a sense of being part of the natural world while enhancing their emotional and social intelligence and ecological awareness. We believe that truly understanding ourselves, others and the environment around us is a key step towards sustainability.

During the program in 2017 we successfully conducted 2 workshops with an after-school care provider in Sydney – one with 4 children and the other with 40 children.

InsideOut Lab's work is inspired by one of the Sustainable Development Goals - Quality Education; where we aim to provide children with the skills required for sustainable development. We do not believe that our education system will equip future generations with appropriate skills and mindsets to lead changes to a sustainable world. They will need to be more resilient and adaptive in an increasingly complex and unpredictable world. They will need the combination of social, emotional and environmental intelligence in order to bring their “whole self” to address some of the most complex challenges before them.

To assist with scaling our solution, our next step is to evaluate social enterprise models - including the establishment of a strategic advisory board; and create opportunities to influence the Department of Education.
