I believe that the future of sustainability is a developed understanding of how to coexist with nature.
What was the most valuable thing you got out of CSL?
I tested myself and expanded my knowledge
Why are you passionate about sustainability?
The more I delve into this field, the more I see the value of 'social ecology' or, the idea that environmental problems are frequently rooted in social problems. As someone who has always been passionate about conservation and wildlife, this has lead me to understand the importance of empowering people to become custodians of nature themselves. Far from rejecting the idea that people interact with the environment, I believe that the future of sustainability is a developed understanding of how to coexist with nature.
How did CSL play a role in directing your current path or project?
CSL insisted I pull apart preconceptions of myself so that I could rebuild an idea of who I am and what I can contribute. The (brutal) critical feedback one receives in necessary to remove blindspots and step up to become a leader. The CSL community supported me throughout this process and enabled me, through kindness, to step up and be the best I can be.
Why is sustainability leadership important?
Someone has to do it.
What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?
Work in this space and continue to learn, learn learn.
What are three words you would use to describe the Fellowship Program?
It's a cult.
