I was opened up to an abundance of opportunities to design for a better world

Why are you passionate about sustainability?

I was sent to an innovation conference and there was an overarching theme emerging of 'Designing for a better world', which really resonated with me. This idea sat in the back of my mind and I kept thinking 'how can I do this?' My passion for sustainability lies in my desire to have a positive impact on the world through the work that I do and the connections that I foster, and a reduced impact on the world through the way that I live and the choices I make.

How did CSL play a role in directing your current path or project?

I came across the CSL Fellowship Program and realised that although I didn't have a lot of experience with Sustainability, this might be a way to figure out how I could play a part in designing for a better world. It has helped me figure out the direction that my work is moving towards, which is social innovation.

Why is sustainability leadership important?

What do you plan to do next on your sustainability journey?

Two key words sum up my focus for the next little while: Reduce and Build.

Reduce represents my commitment to continue implementing small, gradual changes in my daily life to reduce consumption and my physical impact on the world. Things such as minimising new stuff, reducing household waste and reducing the need for single use items while out and about. Build is about continuing to build my community and networks of like minded people; good people who are doing good, fun and cool shit in the world.
